The weight of quiet clothing
Heavy cotton, brushed fleece, and the small decisions that decide how a piece ages on your body.

Materials
Quiet does not mean light
Quiet clothing is often misunderstood as soft branding and thin cotton. For Afterstate, quiet is the opposite: dense cloth, honest seams, and a logo that knows when to stay out of the way.
The weight you feel when you pick up a piece is the first sentence of the story. Everything else — colour, cut, campaign — has to agree with that sentence.
This page is the materials desk in public: grammage we wait for, fleece that has to survive the commute, and the small construction choices that decide whether a garment ages into you or out of the rotation.
Dense
Jersey
Tees specified to hold a silhouette after washing — not to photograph thin.
Brushed
Fleece
Hoodies that soften without collapsing at the elbow.
Recover
Rib & stitch
Cuffs and seams tuned to the life of the cloth, not the sample photo.
Years
The test
If it cannot carry the years, the brand cannot either.
If the fabric cannot carry the years, the brand cannot either.

Hand-feel
Heavy cotton, brushed fleece
We specify fabric the way some studios specify moodboards: by touch first. Heavy cotton that keeps its structure after washing. Brushed fleece that softens without collapsing. Rib that recovers. Thread that matches the life of the cloth, not just the look of the sample.
These are not luxury codes for their own sake. They are how a hoodie survives rain, bag straps, and the hundredth commute without turning into a memory of itself.
Cloth
Three decisions you can feel

Tee
Heavy cotton jersey
A tee should feel like a decision in the hand. We wait for cloth that keeps structure after washing — clean neck, honest drape, no paper-thin campaign trick.

Hoodie / crew
Brushed fleece
Fleece that opens with wear instead of pilling into a memory of itself. The interior is for the body. The exterior has to still read on the street.

Cap
Structured twill
A cap is not a prop. Panels, brim, and the small AS mark — built to sit in the rotation next to the hoodie, not to shout over it.
Studio targets
Numbers we wait for
240–280
Jersey GSM
The hand-feel we look for on tees — substantial enough to drape with authority, breathable enough for real days.
400–460
Fleece GSM
Layers specified to hold shape in rain, bag straps, and the hundredth commute — then soften into you.
Cold
Wash
Colour is tested for how it lives, not only how it photographs. Heat is the enemy of recovery.
Hang
Dry
When the label allows, air is kinder than a tumble. Density stays density.

Quiet is dense cloth, honest seams, and a logo that knows when to stay out of the way.

Construction
Where the years hide
Reinforced stress points. Clean finishing. Seams placed for movement rather than for a flat-lay. The best construction is the kind you forget until year three — when the piece is still in the chair, and the trend that launched with it is not.
We stay close to every batch because the run is short. If the hand-feel is wrong, the piece waits. Quiet clothing is a materials practice before it is a campaign.
Patina
How a piece becomes yours
Wear 01
Stiff in the best way
New cloth should feel decided — not costume-stiff, not disposable-soft. The first week is the handshake.
Month 06
Soft at the elbow
Fleece opens. Jersey settles. Colour shifts into your city’s light. That is quality doing its job, not a garment failing.
Year 03
It looks like you
The best Afterstate pieces should look more like you over time — not more like a campaign. That is the weight of quiet clothing.

Quality
Decisions you can wear
Grammage with purpose
We choose weights that drape with authority — substantial enough to hold a silhouette, breathable enough for real days.

Age
How a piece earns its keep
The best Afterstate pieces should look more like you over time — not more like a campaign. Elbows soften. Fleece opens. The colour settles into your city’s light. That is the weight of quiet clothing: it stays in the rotation because it keeps becoming familiar.
Trends ask you to restart. Quality asks you to continue. We design for the second question.
Care
Keep it in the rotation
Wash cold when you can. Hang dry when the label allows. Air it out between wears. Repair a seam before you replace a friend.
We publish care notes because longevity is part of the product — not an afterthought buried in a FAQ. Trends ask you to restart. Quality asks you to continue.
